Vision
If your barometer for truth comes from your eyes, you will forever be deceived.

Many of us are consistently consuming social media. Around 70% of the world’s population has some form of it. That’s 5.5 billion people at our fingertips. Never in history have we been exposed to this much output.
We see millionaires everywhere. You do not have to flick your finger for long before someone is flaunting wealth. Young people with lifestyles that once belonged only to those born into privilege. We consume these images for hours at a time. So much so that we now have a term for it.
Doom scrolling.
The psychological impact is immense. We see people living lives many only imagined. We compare ourselves and inevitably fall short. We become frustrated and ask ourselves:
Why them and not me?
We ruminate. We blame our circumstances, our upbringing and who we are. Yet our eyes have told us a reality that often isn’t true. People showcase only the highlights of their lives. Some wear designer clothes bought with borrowed money. Others are prisoners to the lifestyles they portray.
Free?
I’m not so sure.
Shackled to an ideology, perhaps.
That person selling courses online. Gurus preaching health as though one answer exists for billions of people. Men speaking endlessly about masculinity while failing to embody it. So much of what we see is cultivated, distorted and, in many ways, an illusion.
It is the blind leading the blind.
Those who are lost pretending to hold a compass.
A game of popularity where people become nothing but numbers used to inflate fragile egos. A theatre of performance where image has replaced substance and attention has become mistaken for truth.
But what if I told you there is a world beyond what the eye can see?
Sometimes we have glimpses of wonder.
Why is the sky blue?
How is nature and its ecosystem so perfectly balanced?
There are moments where life becomes colourful again. Moments when curiosity awakens and wonder returns. In those brief encounters, we step into a different reality. One that feels lighter, inquisitive and full of exploration.
Is it that our eyes have changed what we look at?
Or was it always the mind giving us the narrative we find so beautiful?
The most vibrant of lands.
Occupied by information.
The epicentre of knowledge.
Your mind.
When you begin to understand yourself, the patterns you repeat, the habits that shape you and the thoughts you consume, you realise there is a world unlike any other. The skull holds more mystery than the eyes can ever witness.
The mind awakened.
The body alive.
Was it our eyesight alone that made us see?
Vision becomes your companion.
Thoughts become contemplation.
Contemplation becomes action.
Action, repeated enough times, becomes habit.
And habit, repeated long enough, becomes character.
When you uncover your own truth, much of what once consumed you loses its grip. The external world no longer dictates your internal one. The illusions become clear. It is as though clarity enters your home and snatches the rose-tinted glasses from your face.
Harsh for some. Necessary for many.
For what is sight without understanding?
What is information without wisdom?
What is perception without truth?
Life is not meant to be consumed through our eyes alone. For I would argue those who rely solely on sight are the ones who are truly blind. So much of life is felt.
It is in faith.
It is in trust.
It is in storytelling.
A book is filled with black and white words, yet the mind paints colour, contrast and beauty upon the page.
Yet there is a level of vision that surpasses even the self.
To know the existence of the One you cannot see.
To feel the presence of the One who created you.
The Omnipresent.
Those who spend enough time wandering the labyrinth within themselves eventually discover that at the bottom there is only one foundation.
God.
The One who gave you eyes to witness His creation. Senses to smell, touch and hear the melodies of nature. A mind capable of perceiving reality itself.
Yet the most valuable gift He has given me,
Was the vision to see truth for what it really is.
For the most beautiful Being,
Is not seen.
But felt.
Many of us have sight.
How many of us have vision?
If this resonated with you, I would truly love to know.
I write to understand, to uncover, and to give language to what often goes unspoken.

Thank you for reading.
Writing became my compass.
Art became another way of expressing the same pursuit.
